Urban renaturation
The urban renaturation works began in June 2024. The aim of this project is to improve quality of life, promote biodiversity and reduce heat islands.

1
TERRACING
Terraces in front of building B extend to the central square and provide space for 60 outside places at the Mycelium restaurant.
3
POND
Development of water surfaces with ornamental tiers made of repurposed concrete blocks from our and partners’ demolition sites.
Reused concrete pathway designed and built by EPFL Fribourg / Smart Living Lab.
5
SOFT MOBILITY
Construction of a new 48-space bicycle shelter reusing sheet metal from the Yellow Hall.
2
PLANTING
(first step)
Features native species resistant to climate change: oaks, alders, birches, willows and a lime tree in a nod to the city’s historically famous Tilleul.
Planting beds incorporate earth recovered from work sites with topsoil from embankments.
4
AMENITY SPACES
Construction of communal spaces and manufacture of furniture with, among other things, materials recovered from the demolition of the Yellow Hall, the Yellow Garage, Annex 2 and offcuts from the city’s tree surgery operations.
