Séverine Emery-Jaquier

Visual artist Séverine Emery-Jaquier from Fribourg has developed a practice focused on ceramics and the transformation of matter. Her work explores the forces that shape forms, spaces, and landscapes, integrating notions of displacement, instability, and uncertainty as drivers of creation. Playing with scale, collages and a discrete approach, she addresses urban, environmental and social issues, while building open narrative forms.

bluefactory residency:

“De la perception de l’espace”

Between July and August 2026, the Fribourg visual artist Séverine Emery-Jaquier took over bluefactory’s NeighborHub for a four-week residency dedicated to exploring the links between perception and understanding of space. These spaces and territories, whether natural, inhabited, cultural or political, recurrently run through the artist’s work. Accompanied by Christine Bichsel, professor of human geography and director of the Geography Unit of the  University of Fribourg’s Department of Geosciences, they shared and pooled their tools and ways of considering their shared interest. This residency has made it possible for each of the two researchers to nurture their own practices and open up new avenues of reflection and development in their respective work.
